Clinical/Counselling PsychologistJob summaryWorking within the specialist weight management service you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence based intervention to people living with obesity across Northumberland and North Tyneside localities.
You will work alongside dietitians, physical activity providers and pharmacist and medic within a health behaviour change service to offer direct clinical assessment and intervention as well as MDT working.

Main duties of the job- To provide high quality, effective applied psychology services to the Health Psychology services
- To provide effective psychological assessment and interventions (including 1:1 and group) to the patients of the service.
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for clinical governance of own work according to trust policies.
- To undertake R&D activities for audit, policy and service development in conjunction with service leads.
- Supervises and supports the clinical activities of assistants and trainees in CHP.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across Organisational boundaries.

- Doctorate in clinical or counselling or health psychology that confers eligibility for registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Experience and KnowledgeEssential- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the range of care settings.
- Experience of working with: o a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course. - presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
Desirable- Experience of teaching, training and/or consultation.
- Experience of supervision of healthcare staff.
- Experience of working with patients in a physical healthcare setting.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting.
Other RequirementsEssential- You may also need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties. You may also be expected to work at any of the trust sites.
