Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic physiotherapy team in North Tyneside, specialising in falls prevention and vestibular rehabilitation.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals with balance disorders, dizziness, and complex falls risk. You will be based in the Jubilee Day Hospital and work across community and outpatient settings, supporting patients to maintain independence and reduce the risk of injury.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage a specialist caseload of patients with falls risk, dizziness, and vestibular disorders.
  • Deliver evidence-based assessment and treatment for vestibular dysfunction, including BPPV and dizziness.
  • Lead and contribute to multifactorial falls assessments and interventions.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including nursing, and medical colleagues.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior staff and students.
  • Develop and deliver group programmes for falls prevention and balance rehabilitation.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.

Job responsibilities
  • To deliver Physiotherapy treatment for a complex caseload within a specialist field.
  • To provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • To provide clinical education, supervision and support to staff and students within the speciality area.
  • To provide specialist advice to families, carers, other health and social care professionals and/or education services.
  • To contribute to planning, development and auditing of the Physiotherapy service within the specialist area.
  • To supervise qualified & unqualified staff within the specialist team.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Person Specification - Qualifications / Professional Registration
Essential
  • BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Member of the Health Professionals Council
  • Recognised qualification and experience in the supervision of undergraduate students.
  • Student training qualification

Desirable
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Working towards Masters level or equivalent accredited courses within chosen speciality e.g. Action Research, McKenzie accredited practitioner, Injection Diploma, Continence Diploma, Accredited Respiratory Care Management.
  • Leadership training e.g. LEO/ILM
  • Non-Medical Prescriber Qualification

Person Specification - Experience and knowledge
Essential
  • Varied experience in the assessment and management of complex conditions.
  • Substantial post graduate experience

Desirable
  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
  • Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods

Other Requirements
  • You may also need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties. You may also be expected to work at any of the trust sites. The Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
