Job Title: Head of Clinical Review
Salary: £55,000 per annum based on full time equivalent

Successful candidates will be required to undergo BPSS security clearance.Role SummaryAs Head of Clinical Review, you will lead the Clinical Review Team, ensuring the safe, consistent and high-quality review of medical questionnaires, health records and clinical information in support of Armed Forces recruitment.
As part of the Senior Management Team, you will drive clinical quality, governance, compliance and continuous improvement, using audit findings, data and stakeholder feedback to strengthen standards and service delivery. You will lead and develop a high-performing clinical team through recruitment, supervision, training and CPD, while working closely with senior clinical leaders, the Authority and Single Service Occupational Medicine teams to deliver robust, timely outcomes and an excellent candidate experience.
Main duties and Responsibilities:- Clinical Review Leadership: Lead, coordinate and quality-assure clinical reviews, ensuring accuracy, objectivity, clinical governance and compliance with relevant standards, policies and processes.
- Quality & Governance: Identify themes, risks, trends and learning from reviews and appeals; support incident investigations and provide high-quality reports for governance and senior leadership.
- Clinical Standards & Improvement: Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of clinical standards, pathways and policies, and lead quality improvement projects arising from review findings.
- Audit & Quality Improvement: Lead and undertake clinical audits, identify recurring issues and implement improvements, sharing best practice across clinical teams.
- Workforce Leadership & Development: Provide line management, recruitment, supervision, mentoring and training; conduct appraisals, manage performance and support CPD, reflective practice and professional development.
- Team Culture & Wellbeing: Build a culture of service excellence, motivate and retain staff, promote compassionate leadership and support the Workplace Wellbeing Plan.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting: Work collaboratively with clinical teams, senior clinicians, The Authority and Single Service Occupational Medicine teams, while producing clear reports and analysing data to provide actionable insights.
- Leadership & Professional Standards: Lead by example and champion Optima Health values, maintaining high professional standards and supporting operational priorities, with occasional travel and work outside core hours where required.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required for the Role:- Professional Qualification – Registered Nurse or relevant professional qualification, with significant post-qualification experience and experience in a senior leadership role.
- Leadership Experience – Extensive experience managing and developing a skilled and diverse professional workforce.
- Communication & Relationships – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Influencing & Stakeholder Management – Able to influence, negotiate and adapt your approach to gain support from colleagues, clients and other stakeholders.
- Presentation & Facilitation – Strong skills in presenting information, leading meetings and facilitating discussions.
- Resilience & Problem Solving – Able to remain positive and constructive when dealing with challenges, setbacks and complex issues, and see them through to resolution.
- Attention to Detail – Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate, clear and meaningful documentation and management reports.
- Relevant Experience & Flexibility – Experience in a similar role within Occupational Health, healthcare or a related field, with a willingness to travel when required.
