Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the paediatric dietetic team as inpatient team lead. This is a leadership position with an attached clinical role providing dietetic support to the paediatric critical care unit.

This post will work alongside the overarching team lead to provide an expert dietetic service to the Oxford Children's Hospital as well as helping support a dietetic team of 13 dietitians and 1 administrator. This post is 30% clinical, 70% Inpatient lead.

We are looking for someone with a good foundation of leaderships skills to work collaboratively with the dietetic team and professionals within Oxford children's hospital to provide a high standard of dietetic care and delivery.

Clinical experience of working in critical care is desirable however training and support can be provided if needed.

Main duties of the job
Provision of dietetic service to a 17 bedded Paediatric intensive care unit within time allocated.

Being the inpatient team lead for paediatric dietetics - supporting junior staff and wards to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

Leadership for the acute dietetic staff - staff supervision and development.

Working collaboratively with the team lead on service-specific projects.

Leading on governance, risk, assurance, digital and sustainability initiatives for the inpatient work streams.

To work as part of the band 7 paediatric dietetic team to support senior leadership tasks for the dietetic service.

• To provide dietetic support to paediatric critical care.
• To jointly lead on chairing and attendance of meetings alongside the Team lead.
• To deputise for urgent issues while the team lead is on leave.
• To work within the OUH framework for safeguarding and ensure correct protocols are followed.
• Participation in education and CPD including clinical supervision and journal club.
• To use audit, quality improvement and other tools to evaluate service provision and support service and business case development, including data collection to support establishment reviews.
• Take a lead role in developing evidence/good practice-based guidelines on matters relating to nutrition and dietetics (within specialist areas of practice) and initiate trust-wide implementation, including national benchmarks.
• To educate, train and disseminate information to healthcare professionals including clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals, dietetic colleagues, and students where appropriate.
• Support with governance, assurance, risk and health and safety and share learning with the wider team.
• To lead the service development with Childrens, including the development of evidence-based practice and development of standards, policies, and guidelines.
• To support digital innovation and telemedicine for the paediatric dietetic service.
• Support innovation in delivery of service, cost improvement projects and sustainability.
• To contribute to resource development as needed by the specialist service in line with OUH diet sheet regulations.
• To maintain an up-to-date portfolio in line with HCPC requirements to demonstrate professional competency.
