Job summary
Greenwich MHST seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who are passionate about mental health support in schools, with a demonstrable track record of MHST clinical experience.

The post holder will contribute further to the development of early intervention and prevention service in Greenwich CAMHS. The post represents a development opportunity for a qualified practitioner, who is committed to the principles of CYP-PT to further their career into a Senior practice role. In addition to managing their own caseload, the post holder will be expected to provide supervision to CWPs or EMHPs.

The post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all.

Main duties of the job

• To provide an evidenced based service for children and young people as part of early identification and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs
• To provide advice, support and knowledge of appropriate resources for the emotional wellbeing of children and their families
• To take responsibility for liaising with Practice Leads within the team and other Practitioners, to support effective clinical governance, risk and safety protocols and best practice principles to support continuous improvement and young person-centred care
• To support development and delivery of psychoeducational workshops, webinars and groups for young people, parents/carers and school staff
• To work across agencies to develop a co-ordinated response to children and young people's mental health needs
• Encourage user-involvement and co-production in furthering best practices and striving for quality assurance in data returns for qualitative and quantitative service evaluations to inform and improve further service development
• To work alongside others to demonstrate knowledge and skills to plan and critically evaluate the implementation of the early intervention role to meet the mental health needs of children and young people
• To provide supervision to CWPs or EMHPs (from second year of SWP programme).

Job responsibilities
SWP TRAINEE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a training role within the CYP-PT programme. The SWP training is for qualified CWPs and EMHPs who have undertaken the respective Graduate or Postgraduate Certificate/ Diploma. The programme aims to extend the clinical skillset of CWPs and EMHPs by providing specialist training in a broader range of presentations as well as supervisor training for low-intensity interventions. SWPs will be responsible for:

• Fulfilling the course requirement (see course brochure)
• Working within the governance frameworks of the organisation, including, but not limited to: Clinical Governance, Confidentiality, Data Protection, Health and Safety, and use of IT
• Informing their supervisor/line manager and university of any university absence
• Being present in their site on non-university days and use site leave allowances as agreed with their site.

Qualifications
Essential

• Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health at Post Graduate level i.e. EMHP or CWP pathways
• Professional membership registration (one of the following): BABCP, BPS

Experience
Essential

• Ideally over two years' experience of clinical supervised practice of working with children and families, including work with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs which includes working with children and young people with a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations.
• Experience of working with CYP's with mild to moderate mental health problems and their families using CBT informed guided self help.
• Experience of managing and prioritising a caseload.
• Evidence of providing culturally adapted interventions.
• Experience in design and delivery of workshops, groups and whole school approach interventions.
• Working knowledge of Health, Social Services, Education and the Voluntary Sector and information sharing principles in practice in relation to data protection, privacy and confidentiality.

Desirable

• Experience of supervising junior staff or trainees
• Experience in working with children and adolescents with Special Educational Needs

Skills
Essential

• CAMHS assessment facilitation, including assessing: risk behaviour, impact of the lived experience, systemic functioning and managing difference in the clinical space.
• Ability to listen empathetically to children and young people and their families in order to work effectively in partnership. Qualities essential to practice, include, respect, genuineness, empathy, personal integrity and communication skills, to enable the therapeutic relationship and process. Ability to work in partnership with children, families and multi-disciplinary professionals.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in identifying systems for supporting emotional wellbeing and mental health needs in the community and facilitating access for young people and families
• Knowledge of MHST national strategy and relevant national policies and guidance in relation to children's services and knowledge and skills to safeguard and protect children and young people's welfare in line with the Children Act 2004 requirements and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
