Location: Yorkshires, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, West Midlands, Northamptonshire, East Anglia, Kent, Sussex
This is a Permanent, Part Time vacancy that will close in 2 months at 23:59 BST.
The Vacancy
Mental Health Assessor and CBT Therapist x3 days per week (Days can be flexible)
Mix of Homeworking and Client visits
Full time, Mon-Fri x40 hours per week (30 min unpaid break)

Reporting To - Psychological Services Manager

Job Purpose
To provide high-quality mental health assessments, risk assessments, therapeutic interventions and associated clinical reports to individuals accessing Psychological Services. The postholder will deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and where appropriately qualified, Counselling and/or EMDR interventions. The role may also include the delivery of mental health training programmes and bespoke psychological wellbeing service

Key Responsibilities
  • Mental Health Assessment
    • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including psychosocial and occupational assessments.
    • Complete risk assessments relating to self-harm, suicide, safeguarding and other mental health concerns.
    • Produce clear, professional and evidence-based clinical reports within agreed service standards.
    • Formulate appropriate treatment recommendations and onward referral pathways where required.
    • Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional, organisational and regulatory standards.
  • Therapeutic Interventions
    • Deliver evidence-based CBT interventions in accordance with NICE guidelines and best practice.
    • Provide Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) interventions where clinically appropriate.
    • Deliver counselling interventions where appropriately qualified.
    • Deliver EMDR interventions where appropriately trained and accredited.
    • Monitor clinical outcomes and adapt treatment plans as required.
    • Manage a caseload effectively to meet organisational and clinical requirements.
  • Training and Service Delivery
    • Deliver mental health awareness and wellbeing training programmes via virtual and face-to-face formats where required.
    • Support the delivery of bespoke psychological services developed by PAM.
    • Contribute to service development initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
    • Promote mental health awareness and psychological wellbeing across client organisations.
  • Professional Practice
    • Maintain professional registration and accreditation requirements.
    • Engage in regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development (CPD).
    • Work in accordance with relevant professional codes of ethics and organisational policies.
    • Ensure compliance with GDPR, confidentiality and information governance standards.

Person Specification
  • Qualifications
    • Essential
      • CBT qualification at Level 5 or above.
      • Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) qualification/training.
    • Desirable
      • Counselling qualification at Level 4 or above.
      • EMDR training/qualification.
      • Degree, equivalent qualification, or MSc in Counselling, CBT or a related therapeutic discipline.
      • Degree or equivalent qualification in another subject area.
  • Professional Membership and Accreditation
    • CBT Practitioners
      • Essential
        • BABCP Accredited, or
        • Eligible for BABCP Accreditation with a requirement to apply and achieve accreditation within agreed timescales.
    • Counselling and CBT Practitioners
      • Essential
        • BACP Accredited, or equivalent professional body accreditation, or
        • Eligible for accreditation with a requirement to apply and achieve accreditation within agreed timescales.
    • EMDR Practitioners
      • Essential (where EMDR is delivered)
        • EMDR Association UK Accredited, or
        • Eligible for accreditation with a requirement to apply and achieve accreditation within agreed timescales.
  • Experience
    • Essential
      • Minimum 450+ clinical therapeutic hours delivering therapeutic interventions.
      • Mental health assessment experience, including clinical formulation and risk assessment.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Strong report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex clinical information clearly.
      • IT literate with competence in Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word and Teams.
      • Demonstrable ability to learn and effectively use in-house clinical and management systems.
    • Desirable
      • Experience delivering mental health training in both virtual and face-to-face environments.
      • Experience working within occupational health, employee wellbeing or stepped-care services.
      • Experience of delivering CBT alongside counselling and/or EMDR interventions.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Essential
      • Comprehensive knowledge of mental health conditions and evidence-based treatment approaches.
      • Strong risk assessment and risk management skills.
      • Ability to manage a varied clinical caseload effectively.
      • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
      • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary remote team.
      • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
    • Desirable
      • Knowledge of workplace mental health and occupational wellbeing.
      • Experience of delivering psychoeducational interventions and group training programmes.

Clinical Activity
  • 7 clinical deliverable hours per day
  • Up to 7 appointments per day
Daily Structure
A typical day may consist of:
  • Mental health assessments and report writing
  • Individual therapy sessions
  • Mental health training delivery
  • Bespoke service delivery
  • Clinical administration and record keeping
Working Hours
Typically 08:30 – 17:00
Additional travel time may be required when working from a PAM clinic or client site.
Working Relationships
The postholder will:
  • Work within a remote team of mental health professionals operating within a stepped-care model.
  • Report directly to a Psychological Services Manager.
  • Liaise with colleagues across Occupational Health, Wellbeing and Client Services teams.
  • Engage professionally with clients, managers, external stakeholders and healthcare professionals as required.
