The Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Part-Time Salaried GP to join our clinical team for 2-4 sessions per week (negotiable).

You will provide high-quality, patient-centred care consultations, working closely with our multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

• Conduct GP consultations and clinical assessments.
• On Call and Triage
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
• Prescribe safely and in line with current guidance.
• Review and action test results, correspondence and clinical documents.
• Maintain accurate clinical records.
• Participate in safeguarding, quality improvement and clinical governance activities.
• Work collaboratively with practice staff and community colleagues.

About us
Park Medical Centre is an independent NHS GP practice serving a diverse community in Southwark. We are based in a purpose-built facility overlooking Southwark Park. As a relatively small practice, with a patient list of approximately 6,300, we are committed to delivering high-quality, personalised care.

We are a teaching practice within the Guys and St Thomas GP Training Scheme and take pride in fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for both patients and staff. Our multidisciplinary team works closely together, with a strong emphasis on professional development, continuous learning, and maintaining an inclusive and welcoming culture.

We are also actively engaged with our local community. We have an established Patient Participation Group (PPG) and run a community gardening project in partnership with the neighbouring tenants association, helping to strengthen local connections and promote wellbeing.

Job responsibilities

Core Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, safe and effective clinical care to patients registered with Park Medical Centre.

To work as an autonomous medical practitioner in accordance with General Medical Council (GMC) standards, NHS regulations and practice policies.

To contribute to the delivery of patient-centred services by working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and sharing clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care

• Conduct predominantly face-to-face and occasionally telephone and consultations. This include a duty session involving online triage via Accurx and occasional home visits when required.
• Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Develop appropriate management plans and deliver evidence-based treatment.
• Promote health education, disease prevention and self-management where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records.

Clinical Governance, Audit and CQC Compliance

• Participate actively in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and service development projects.
• Support the practice in meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and NHS contractual requirements.
• Contribute to clinical governance activities, QOF and local targets, significant event reviews and patient safety initiatives.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring policies, protocols and evidence-based practice.

Prescribing

• Prescribe medications safely, effectively and cost-effectively in line with local and national guidelines.
• Undertake regular medication reviews and support medicines optimisation initiatives.
• Monitor prescribing practices to ensure compliance with NHS and regulatory standards.

Referrals and Care Coordination

• Make timely and appropriate referrals to secondary care, community services, social care and specialist clinics.
• Liaise effectively with external healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of patient care.
• Support integrated working across primary, secondary and community healthcare services.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Review and action laboratory results, hospital correspondence and other clinical documentation promptly.
• Authorise repeat prescriptions and complete clinical administration within agreed timescales.
• Maintain accurate patient records and coding in accordance with practice policies and information governance requirements.

Meetings and Team Working

• Attend and contribute to clinical meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, practice meetings and governance reviews.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants and administrative staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Support the training and development of colleagues where appropriate.

Continuous Professional Development

• Maintain professional registration, appraisal and revalidation requirements.
• Participate in continuing professional development activities and mandatory training.
• Keep up to date with current clinical guidance, NHS policy and best practice.

Qualifications

Essential

• Qualifications & Registrations
• Essential
• Medical Degree: MBChB, MBBS, or equivalent medical qualification.
• GP Qualification: MRCGP and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice.
• GMC Registration: Full GMC registration with a current Licence to Practice.
• Performers List: Inclusion on the National Medical Performers List (or eligible for immediate inclusion).
• Indemnity: Evidence of current medical indemnity insurance (e.g., MDU, MPS, MDDUS)

Desirable

• Specialist Diplomas: Additional qualifications such as DRCOG, DFSRH, or DCH.
• Trainer Status: Qualified GP Trainer status.

Experience

Essential

• NHS Experience: Experience of working in a UK NHS General Practice environment.
• Clinical Competence: Broad, up-to-date knowledge of clinical medicine and chronic disease management.
• Prescribing: Evidence of safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective prescribing practices.
• Safeguarding: Clear understanding of adult and child safeguarding procedures.

Desirable

• Special Interests: Possession of a GP with Extended Role (GPwER) capability (e.g., dermatology, minor surgery, joint injections, women's health).
• Audit & QOF: Experience leading clinical audits or managing Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.
