Main duties of the job
As the ADHD Non-Prescribing Nurse, you will work collaboratively with the ADHD clinical team which will include GPs and other health care professionals.

You will be responsible for acting within the professional boundaries to provide care for the service users including screening, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow up of care; demonstrating safe clinical decision making and expert patient care.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Care

• Review Clinical patient notes to determine the needs and complexity of symptoms which may indicate the presence of ADHD.
• Recognise and appropriately escalate concerns relating to patient safety, clinical risk or changes in a patient's condition.
• Undertake screening and checks of Blood Pressure, height, weight, BMI, urinalysis, glucose monitoring and smoking status.
• Undertake phlebotomy.
• Maintain current competency and training in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques.
• Promote health and well-being through the use of health promotion, health education, screening and therapeutic communication skills.
• Refer to and work with the ADHD Liaison Officer

• Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice, and act in and maintain a professional manner.
• Participate in continuing professional development opportunities to ensure that up-to-date evidence-based knowledge and competence in all aspects of the role is maintained, promoting and maintaining own personal development and clinical excellence.
• Participate in organisational decision making, interpret variations in outcomes and use data from information systems to improve practice.
• Promote evidence-based practice through the use of the latest research-based guidelines and support the development of practice-based research.
• Reflect on and evaluate clinical practice through audit, peer review and feedback to ensure that practice is safe, effective and in line with expected standards.

Communication and Partnership

• Clearly communicate the health status of the patient to relevant professionals using appropriate terminology, technology and format.

• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with the wider team of GPs, nurses and allied health professionals to ensure delivery of a co-ordinated service.

Governance, Quality and Service Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate documentation record keeping in line with local policies and NMC guidelines.
• Complete records, audits and reports, respond to appropriate questions and requests.
• Support with developing protocols and assisting in audits and research.
• Attend team and service meetings as requested.
• Work according to Clinical Governance and support the Clinical Governance Agenda, understanding the role of Risk Management within the clinical setting and contributing to risk assessment and Significant Event Audit, and recognising the importance of Infection Control.
• Comply with current infection prevention and control policies and procedures and report any actual or potential infection prevention and control risks to the appropriate manager.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times and ensure that patient and personally identifiable information is only accessed, used and shared appropriately, in accordance with legal and organisational requirements.
• Work in accordance with safeguarding policies and procedures and recognise and appropriately escalate any safeguarding concerns.
• Keep up to date with Information Governance requirements and follow organisational policies and procedures to ensure that information is handled legally, securely, efficiently and effectively.
• Ensure that all records handled as part of the role, including patient and administrative records, are managed appropriately and in accordance with organisational Records Management policies and procedures.
