Priory Hospital Woodbourne has an opportunity for a Principal Psychologist to join our team. This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week, and the pro-rata salary is £46,600 per annum
Set in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, just a short distance from Birmingham City Centre, Priory Hospital Woodbourne provides a welcoming and well-connected working environment within beautifully maintained grounds. With excellent access to the West Midlands motorway network and strong local public transport links, the site is easily accessible.
Our diverse and specialised range of services offers the opportunity to develop your skills and gain experience working with a wide spectrum of mental health conditions across five distinct service lines within the hospital. You will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care. You will also:
- Lead psychological care for designated wards/patients, including assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
- Work autonomously within professional and service guidelines.
- Supervise and support psychology staff, trainees, and students.
- Provide consultation, reflective practice, and staff training.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews, risk assessments, and patient care planning.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and manage administrative responsibilities.
- Support service development, audits, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Oversee referrals, waiting lists, KPIs, and governance of psychological practice.
- Build effective relationships with patients, carers, staff, and external agencies.
- Maintain CPD, supervision, and compliance with Health & Safety and Mental Health Act requirements.

EssentialApplicants must hold a completed and recognised postgraduate qualification that leads to HCPC registration and have formal training in at least two therapeutic modalities.
