Advanced Physiotherapist Practitioner (APP)

The closing date is 15 August 2026

Job summary
Are you ready to transform MSK care at the frontline of Primary Care?

We are delighted to be recruiting an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) to join our established, forward-thinking team on a full-time basis.

In this onsite role, you will work within GP practices as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions at the first point of contact. You will practise with a high degree of clinical autonomy, supported by experienced colleagues and a strong governance framework.

As an integral member of your allocated practices, you will work closely with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, mental health practitioners, reception teams, and wider MDT colleagues to deliver coordinated, personalised patient care.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your advanced clinical expertise, with access to protected CPD time, structured supervision, and ongoing professional development to support your career progression.

Main duties of the job
As an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP), you will be an autonomous, highly skilled clinician working within GP practices to assess, diagnose, treat and manage musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and undifferentiated presentations. You will independently manage patient care and, where appropriate, discharge patients without the need for medical referral.

Patients may access the service directly through self-referral, or be signposted by GP practice staff, enabling rapid assessment, accurate diagnosis and timely intervention. Your role will be instrumental in streamlining patient pathways, reducing unnecessary delays, and ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time.

As a key member of our MSK service, you will work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you will play an important leadership role within the organisation, supporting the clinical supervision and development of colleagues, contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, and assisting with Primary Care Network (PCN) service mobilisation and stakeholder engagement.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician seeking to combine advanced clinical practice with leadership, service development and the ongoing transformation of MSK care within Primary Care.
