Job summaryQueen Victoria Hospital Recovery team pride ourselves on being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team with a long history of excellence. A passionate approach to patient centred care is essential to managing our patients within this acute recovery area. Post-holders will be working in a unit that cares for both paediatric and adult patients. The recovery area is part of a complex dynamic perioperative suite managing a number of different specialities from day case surgery, paediatric surgery, to complex airway management and major reconstructive surgery.
Main duties of the jobMain duties are to offer a high standard of 1:1 care to our post operative patients during the Recovery phase. This will include adult and paediatric patients and include a range of surgical procedures and complex airway management. The Recovery team look forward to the successful applicant bringing extensive knowledge and skills in paediatric care. Advanced airway management will be offered to the successful applicant to support our acute patient needs and meet individual development plans. The advanced airway programme is supported and run by our consultant Anaesthetists and will give the practitioner the knowledge and skills to remove SADs and ETTs in both paediatric and adult patients.

Job responsibilitiesThe post holder will work as part of a team to provide a safe, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers. They will be expected to function clinically within the Recovery Department and other associated areas as required. They will participate in the training of junior staff and continue their own personal and professional development, sharing their extensive knowledge, skills and innovative ideas in paediatric care.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse or Registered ODP
- Mentorship Qualification or able to demonstrate specialist knowledge within this field through practical experience
