Job summaryTo provide clinical leadership within the Forensic Outreach Liaison Service (FOLS) in accordance with agreed service and directorate objectives and operating procedures. The post holder will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention, consultation and risk management for individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism who present with complex trauma, offending behaviour and forensic risk. The post holder will also contribute to service development, research, audit, supervision, teaching and professional leadership within the service.
Main duties of the job30 Hours - Forensic Outreach Liaison Service (FOLS), Doncaster 7.5 Hours - Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT), North LincolnshireA Unique Opportunity Across Two Specialist Forensic Services Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Practitioner Psychologist (Forensic or Clinical) to provide leadership and specialist psychological expertise across two established forensic services.
Within FOLS, you will support people with learning disabilities and/or autism who present with complex trauma, offending behaviours and forensic risks. Within SCFT, you will work with individuals affected by mental illness and/or personality disorder who have offended, or who present a risk of offending and causing harm to themselves or others.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence clinical practice, support multidisciplinary teams and help shape the future of specialist forensic services across Doncaster and North Lincolnshire.
The RoleYou will:
- Provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and risk management.
- Offer expert consultation and advice to multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
- Lead on complex forensic and clinical cases across both services.
- Supervise and support psychology colleagues, trainees and wider team members.
- Contribute to service development, research, audit and innovation.
- Help develop psychologically informed approaches that improve outcomes and reduce risk.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Post-graduate training in forensic or clinical psychology (as accredited by the BPS and HCPC) with registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
Desirable- Post-doctoral training in additional specialised areas of psychological practice e.g. risk assessment, autism, personality disorder, substance dependence etc.
ExperienceEssential- Assessed experience of working as a qualified forensic or clinical psychologist for a minimum of six years, including at least 3 years post qualification experience within learning disability, working with clients with 'forensic' needs, either in secure or non-secure settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient, custodial, and residential care settings including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multi -disciplinary care plan.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision. Doctoral level knowledge of forensic or clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of applied psychology. Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the patient group and mental health.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
Desirable- Experience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified psychologists.
- Experience of multi professional management of teams or services within the designated specialty.
