Job summaryAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Trust Grade Registrar to join the Emergency Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED), as well provide leadership and manage the department at night.
Dedicated Consultant supervision and guidance will be available throughout the duration of the post, aiming to build a fulfilling and sustainable career in Emergency Medicine.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate would be a doctor with significant previous experience in Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, gained either in the NHS or abroad. They would be competent in performing common emergency procedures, such as DC cardioversion, chest decompression and tube thoracostomy, reduction of dislocated joints and fractures, wound suturing etc, as well as managing medical emergencies - cardiac arrest, tachy- or bradyarrhythmias, acute coronary syndrome, seizures, DKA, shock, sepsis, respiratory failure etc.
This post requires excellent communication and leadership skills when dealing with distressed patients and/or relatives, interdisciplinary referrals, presenting cases at board rounds. The successful applicant is expected to have experience to lead the Emergency Department, especially at night, be able to supervise and guide junior colleagues, and thrive in a busy environment requiring focus and multitasking.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Full GMC Registration
- MB ChB, MBBS or equivalent
DesirableExperienceEssential- At least THREE years continuous experience in Emergency Medicine.
- Provider status in any of the following: ALS, ATLS, or APLS.
Desirable- Previous NHS employment as a doctor.
