Are you a skilled and dedicated Physiotherapist with experience in the acute environment and a passion for delivering excellent patient care? If so, this role could be for you. We are looking for someone to join our Band 6 Physiotherapy rotation. The successful candidate will be supported and supervised by the Band 7 Team Leads.

Rotations include: Respiratory, Frailty/Front Door, Acute Stroke, Trauma and Orthopaedics and MSK/Rheumatology/Hydrotherapy.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide a high standard Physiotherapy service to patients at Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust.
  • To provide specialist assessment, treatment, and goal setting of patients on the wards or in an out-patient setting. Some patients may have complex and/or chronic presentations. To determine clinical diagnosis and Physiotherapy treatment indicated. To maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • You will develop highly specialist skills under the guidance of the Senior staff.
  • To provide clinical cross cover within your team as delegated by your Clinical Team Lead
  • To attend clinical level discussions / meetings relating to your area of work as delegated by your Clinical Team Lead

Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered

Desirable
  • Membership of CSP

Experience
Essential
  • Significant post grad experience, including a rage of post qualification rotations.
  • Experience in acute hospital setting, including a range of post qualification rotations.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, a good understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team.
  • Experience of working in a team of people including qualified and unqualified staff.
  • Experience of out of hours working - including managing the risks associated with unsupervised / lone working
  • Experience in orthopaedics and MSK

Desirable
  • Experience working in an NHS setting in the following clinical areas: Trauma & Orthopaedics, Respiratory, Neurology, MSK

PRACTICAL AND INTELLECTUAL SKILLS (INCLUDING ANY SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE)
Essential
  • Up-to-date clinical skills
  • Specialist level assessment skills
  • Well developed communication skills - empathy, negotiation, and motivation, presenting of complex facts in an understandable way, re-assurance, and support particularly to anxious people.
  • Good understanding of roles with Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Respect for other professionals within the team.
  • Analytical thinker.
  • Reflective practitioner with portfolio evidence to support this.
  • Experience of teaching (formal or informal), good presentation skills, computer literate

Desirable
  • Evidence of post-graduate education and development.

DISPOSITION/ ADJUSTMENT/ ATTITUDE
Essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to work in highly stressful situations including the ability to manage distressing and highly emotive situations successfully (e.g. working with people recently diagnosed with life changing conditions).
  • Able to concentrate for long periods including during patient treatments (for 20+ minutes). Able to work with interruptions.
  • Actively participate in, and record, CPD activities and in-service training. Able to work flexibly across a team and provide appropriate cross cover.
  • Keen to share knowledge and training across all health care professionals.
