Job summary
The post is based at North Devon District Hospital, part of Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Our North Devon Obstetrics and Gynaecology service is a close-knit team of eight consultants in Barnstaple, with resident doctor staff including GP trainees, Foundation doctors, SAS and MTI doctors, supported by the senior Perinatal Leadership Team, Clinical Matrons, and an experienced Operational Management team.

All obstetric and gynaecology services are delivered on the main Barnstaple hospital site with immediate access to laboratories, ICU, and other specialties. Facilities include the Ladywell Unit with a six-bedded Labour Ward, Bassett Ward for antenatal/postnatal care, a Level 1 Special Care Baby Unit, dedicated obstetric and gynaecology theatres, and Petter Ward for day cases. There will also be the opportunity to travel to Royal Devon and Exeter hospital for the development and optimisation of skills.

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a unique organisation with integrated acute and community services across North and East Devon. The acute hospital in the North provides a full complement of secondary care services for the local population, including emergency care, cancer services, and maternity and paediatric services. It is a designated Eye, Trauma and Cancer Unit.

The posts are offered on a whole-time basis. Suitably qualified applicants who are unable to work full-time for personal reasons will be considered. The Trust is committed to flexible working arrangements, including job sharing. Such arrangements will be discussed with any shortlisted candidates on a personal basis.

Working Pattern: 40 hours per week
