Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity at the Royal Free Hospital to recruit a highly specialist Band 7 Physiotherapist to become a part of our Renal Therapy Team for a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027.

The role is part of an ongoing project for a recently established outpatient therapy team that is responsible for clinics and interventions focussed on frailty management, supportive care and weight management. The role will include data management and outcome measure collection with an aim to secure longer term funding for the role.

The successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust Values and the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. The individual applying for this position should have experience and skills in integrated therapy working, be flexible and be able to work in an emerging role. Renal experience is desirable but not essential, comprehensive training and support will be provided.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Physiotherapist who is keen to develop their specialist clinical knowledge, management and service development skills.

The successful candidate should be forward thinking and pro-active with excellent organisational and clinical skills. Good communication skills and the ability to make autonomous decisions under pressure are also required.

The Therapy Department will support the successful applicant by means of regular supervision, appraisal and training.

Person Specification
Education & professional Qualifications
  • BSc Degree in Physiotherapy or Diploma or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council registration for profession
  • Evidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development in specialist clinical area

Desirable
  • Evidence of study or intention to study at masters level
  • Membership of specialist interest group

Experience
  • Substantial postgraduate experience at a Band 6 level.
  • Experience of working with frail or end of life patients.
  • Experience and ability of working in an acute setting, teaching and supervising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and use own initiative.
  • Motivational Interviewing/ Behaviour Change training (CBT or facilitation skills)/Advanced communication skills
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working and leading a team
  • Experience of clinical audit, Quality Improvement and/or research
  • Experience of teaching to uni-disciplinary/ multidisciplinary groups
  • Evidence of active involvement in service development & contribution to change within the workplace

Desirable
  • Experience of working with renal patients.

Skills and aptitudes
  • Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning and the management of complex cases
  • Evidence of a clear understanding of the role of the physiotherapist in an outpatient/community setting.
  • Evidence of understanding the skills required for service development and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to a range of audiences eg patients, carers and other professionals
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others and effective time management
  • Experience of working effectively and efficiently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to demonstrate clear understanding of clinical governance and its application to the work setting.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Ability to lead a team
