Job summary
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Hospital are inviting applicants to apply for a consultant geriatrician post in the Department of Health Services for Elderly People (HSEP) at the Hampstead site.

The successful applicant will be joining a group of 11 dynamic, forward looking consultants to deliver high quality care for older patients.

Applicants will be expected to have suitable experience in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine (GIM). On call is for acute geriatric medicine on a 1 in 10. There is also a commitment to teaching and educationally supervising medical students.

Main duties of the job
This role will be predominantly focused on TREAT(Triage and Rapid Elderly Assessment Team). The TREAT service delivers early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) for older adults presenting with frailty in line with NHS England Acute Frailty and British Geriatric Society guidance. The role will also support a consultant-led liaison service to frail and complex patients on the HSEP (Health Services for Elderly People) ward and developing our frailty liaison service. Clinical supervision and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level will also be an important aspect of this role. The appointee will also work closely and in partnership with our Acute Medicine colleagues as well as the wider multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification
Education and Professional Qualifications
Essential

• MBBS or equivalent
• Registered with the GMC and within 6 months (at the scheduled time of the appointments committee) of being accepted for the specialist registers for Geriatric Medicine and General (Internal) Medicine
• MRCP or equivalent

Desirable

• Postgraduate medical degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)

Experience and Knowledge
Essential

• Clinical training and experience as required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in Acute and/or General (Internal) Medicine and Infectious Disease
• Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
• Experience of and commitment to medical audit
• Current ALS provider
