Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oncology Specialty Doctor to join the Oncology team at St Luke's Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital (RSH) for a fixed period of 12 months.
Here at St Luke's, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting. Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff. You will be joining our team of 29 oncologists, supported by a team of Specialist Registrars, Specialty Doctors, SHOs, AHP's and Specialist Nurses.
This is a 10PA post consisting of outpatient clinics, ward work, MDT meetings, radiotherapy and chemotherapy prescribing. In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration.
Candidates from either the UK, or overseas are welcome to apply. We would welcome enquiries from anyone wishing to follow the RCR Portfolio Pathway training route onto the specialist register.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be based at the RSH in Guildford providing a high level of medical care to the Oncology patients in the outpatient clinics. The job plan may involve travelling to our outreach oncology sites to provide clinic cover, as well as working on the Guildford site. There will be an expectation to work within the tumour group teams, covering the service, where required. Excellent communication and team working will be required with the tumour teams.
The post holder will also be required to cover regular on call duties, as per the contract. This post is aimed at a senior Oncology doctor who has experience in Oncology practice in a range of tumour sites. The objective of the role would be to address clinic demands and to provide oncology expertise in both Clinical and Medical Oncology in the management and treatment of solid tumour sites.
This post will have some fixed clinics in the timetable, plus some flexible sessions with set tumour groups.
The role will require good MDT working within Oncology, as well as with wider trust to ensure the oncology patients receive a high quality of medical care. There will be an on-call commitment related to this post.
