Job summary"This post is only open to internal applicants."The Deteriorating Patient Project Role will be a key member of the Deteriorating Patient Improvement Group, working closely with the Lead for the Deteriorating Patient Improvement Group, the Senior Nurse in Quality Improvement and other key stakeholders to improve the recognition of deterioration across adult and paediatric inpatients across the Trust.
Main duties of the job- Lead improvement projects related to improving the recognition of deterioration in patients, measuring and monitoring outcomes using recognised QI methodologies
- Act as a subject matter expert in the management of recognising deteriorating in patients
- Provide expert evaluation and guidance, offering specialist advice to clinical teams to support evidence-based decision-making and best practice.
- Lead and coordinate audits to provide monitoring and assurance
- Work with the Business Intelligence and assurance teams to provide compliance against for example the Quality Schedule

Job responsibilities- Make recommendations for further improvements based on e.g. NICE guidance, DATIX
- Analyse, interpret and present data, demonstrating progress, impact and learning from quality improvement activity.
- Produce clear written reports, verbal briefings and presentations for diverse audiences
- The postholder will be expected to work at a clinical level as required, collaborating with divisional teams to support, influence, and sustain improvement.
- Collaborate with Patient Safety Nurses to identify areas for improvement, promote shared learning and support a cohesive approach to patient safety working within PSIRF principles to promote a just, learning-focused culture
- Maintain clear, compassionate and professional communication with patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues across all levels and disciplines
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered nurse with NMC registration or registered Allied Health professional with HCPC registration
- Evidence of management of a clinical service/area, able to make decisions and be motivated to plan own workload, with experience in the field of managing a deteriorating patient.
- Evidence of effective teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable- Qualification in specialist practice that relates to the specialty of Management of the acutely unwell adult
KnowledgeEssential- Previous relevant clinical experience at a supervisory/managerial level in a high care clinical area.
- Highly developed evidence based professional knowledge & clinical skills across a range of clinical practice underpinned by theory and experience.
- Demonstrable evidence of leading change in the clinical setting and evidence of the impact on quality of care.
