Job summaryThe appointment is to commence 7th October 2026 for a fixed term period of 12 months until 5th October 2027. MBChB and FRCS (Urol) or equivalent is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of the post are equivalent to ST3+.
Standard hours 40 plus out of hours commitment.
Main duties of the jobThe appointee will act under the supervision of the functional and reconstructive urology consultants at all times and attend the timetabled activities set out below.
Based on a work schedule of 40 hours, an expected timetable provided below (subject to review):

A place on the on call rota may be available with this post - for discussion with successful candidate.
The appointee will participate in the administration of the department as required. For example, this may involve or day to day administration as required by the consultants and the service.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise

- Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management and evidence based practice
Desirable- Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
Clinical ExperienceEssential- A minimum of 24 months clinical experience in surgical posts including 6 months of Urology
- Capacity to apply sound judgement & prioritise clinical need.
- Demonstrates appropriate technical competence and evidence of development of diagnostic skills and judgment. Validated logbook documentation of surgical exposure to date.
