Job summary
This post is for internal candidates to Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust and The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. This is a secondment/development opportunity for an AHP.

You will manage your own case /workload of patients as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, with responsibility for your own portfolio of clinical research studies with the support of the Research Team Lead and wider Research & Innovation team.

Main duties of the job
The post is central to the delivery of research the Trust and to support local services to deliver research projects which are included in the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) portfolio. You will be responsible for the recruitment and follow-up of service users to research studies. The role will involve undertaking study related procedures as appropriate and the assessment, planning and on-going care of research participants throughout the duration of the study.

Experience
Essential
  • An understanding of research methodology, production of research protocols, data collection and analysis
  • Significant experience of undertaking research Experience of research design processes
  • Experience of working within research governance quality systems
  • Knowledge of ethics approval processes and other regulatory requirements

Knowledge and Skills
Essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including communicating clearly, concisely and courteously both face-to-face and by telephone and in writing communicating with patients/carers to maximise the patient understanding of research activities.
  • Demonstrates an ability to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, sponsor companies and funding organisations
  • Patient centred approach
  • Experience in a range of computer-based systems including Excel, Access and other web-based systems

Other
Essential
  • Ability to travel daily for meetings across a range of sites in the Shropshire area and nationally

Training and Qualifications
Essential
  • Allied Health Professional
  • Professional clinical knowledge acquired through specialist training to post graduate diploma level, including knowledge of research methodologies
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • GCP Training
