Job SummaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine at registrar level (IMT3/ST3 equivalent) based at Yeovil District Hospital. This role is ideal for doctors looking to gain Tier 2 decision-making experience and progress towards higher specialty training in Acute Internal Medicine. You will work within a busy Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), supported by experienced Acute Physicians, delivering high-quality care for acutely unwell patients.
Main Duties of the Job- Act as a Tier 2 senior decision maker in AMU and SDEC
- Assess and manage acute medical admissions efficiently
- Support operational flow and clinical decision-making
- Supervise junior doctors (F1--IMT2)
- Deliver teaching and feedback
- Perform core procedures including:
- Lumbar puncture
- Chest aspiration/drain insertion
- Ascitic taps
- Cardioversion (with supervision as appropriate)
- Participate in the Acute Medical Registrar on-call rota (approx. 1:13)

- Minimum 4 years' NHS experience
- Experience in Acute/Internal Medicine
Desirable- Experience at ST3 level or above
Additional CriteriaEssential- Competent in core IMT procedural skills
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
Desirable- Interest in Quality Improvement or Audit
- Teaching experience
