Job SummaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic and inspiring Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the YDH Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team
Main Duties of the Job- Provide evidence-based physiotherapy in the clinical areas as part of a 7-day service
- Provide clinical support, guidance and supervision for students, apprentices and Physiotherapy Assistants working within the Team
- Play an active role in the development of students and Physiotherapy Assistants, alongside senior clinical staff
- Provide advice regarding the rehabilitation management of patients to families, carers and the other members of the MDT
- Have a broad understanding of Physiotherapy specialities and of wider departmental and/or professional issues
- Partake in weekend working, respiratory on-call duties and other clinical extended hours as service requires

Maintains good communication, liaison and working arrangements with other Trust teams, Trusts and external agencies.
To use communication tools (verbal and non verbal) to gain valid informed consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication e.g. loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive and receptive dysphasia, pain, fear.
To have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment e.g. those with cognitive or speech difficulties.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- HCPC registration
- Diploma/ degree in Physiotherapy
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including evidence of postgraduate learning
Desirable- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Membership of relevant CSP special interest group
- Post-graduate accredited courses in rehabilitation or relevant post graduate courses
ExperienceEssential- Proven post graduate experience with extensive clinical experience relevant to the post
- To have completed a variety of rotations and acquired core skills relevant to the post
- Experience of a wide range of clinical rehabilitation areas in an acute setting
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working as part of a Respiratory On-call and/or twilight service
- Knowledge of clinical governance
- Experience of service development and evaluation
- Good planning, decision making, clinical reasoning and problem solving skills with the neurological patient
Desirable- Experience working within the NHS
- Experience in the acute hospital setting
- Experience working as a practice placement educator including relevant training
- Knowledge of patients administration systems
