Every day, thousands of people contact our NHS 999 service in moments of urgent need. Behind every call, skilled clinicians are making critical decisions - ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

We're looking for experienced and compassionate Paramedics and Nurses to join our clinical team within the Integrated Contact Centre (ICC) as 999 - Clinical Advisors. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role at the heart of urgent and emergency care.

As part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will:
  • Monitor live 999 calls handled by Emergency Call Takers (ECTs)
  • Provide clinical oversight to ensure safe and appropriate patient outcomes
  • Use your expertise to make real-time, dynamic clinical assessments
  • Apply evidence-based decision-making supported by advanced clinical software

This role offers a rare chance to use your clinical judgement in a fast-paced environment where your decisions directly impact patient safety and the effective flow of urgent care services across the NHS.

If you're looking for a role where your experience truly makes an impact--this is it.

Please note that courses are scheduled to run monthly from September 2026.

Main duties of the job
  • Work within a team as an autonomous practitioner, providing high-quality clinical telephone triage using decision-support systems
  • Assess incoming symptom-based calls and determine urgency and priority.
  • Provide evidence-based clinical advice and support onward referral within the NHS.
  • Communicate clinical information verbally and via technical links effectively with healthcare partners to ensure seamless care.
  • Contribute to achieving national ambulance standards and local performance targets.
  • Participate in team meetings and work with managers to maintain strong performance.
  • Engage in monthly call audits and ongoing self-reflection.

About us
The full package of NHS benefits, including:
  • 27-33 days annual leave (pro rata)
  • NHS pension
  • Huge national discounts (retail, travel, leisure, tech & more)
  • Free parking
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Full-time & part-time shifts available
  • Ability to join our staff networking groups

This is your chance to build an NHS career with real progression and stability.

Flexible working requests will be considered in line with business requirements.

Corporate Induction
It's really important for us to ensure you have the best onboarding experience which allows you to feel a sense of belonging from the start. To help with this, we will book your Corporate Induction as soon as we possibly can (depending on availability).

For this role additional training will be required following on from your corporate induction.
