Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner - Cardiothoracics
37.5 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy Team. The team provides physiotherapy to the cardiothoracic wards at James Cook University Hospital.

This post would suit an experienced band 3 assistant looking to progress to band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner or a Band 4 keen to broaden their knowledge of acute physiotherapy.

The Cardiothoracic team consists of Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants.

Main duties of the job
To undertake highly skilled work, support the physiotherapists in providing an effective and efficient physiotherapy service within the framework of clinical governance.

To work under supervision and independently in order to facilitate effective treatment of patients within the service.

To carry out basic assessments of non-complex patients as delegated by the physiotherapists.

To accept patients delegated by a therapist and be responsible for the delivery of patient care. To use clinical judgement and freedom, within the scope of practice and be able to work independently and flexibly without direct supervision but to receive access to regular supervision from a Registered physiotherapist

• o3 A-levels oOR Health and Science T-level oOR equivalent level 3 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (level 2) oOR oAs a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway) oAND/OR oShort courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties oAND/OR oEquivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; o- Theoretical knowledge o- Experience of a range of care and related procedures o- clinical observations o- knowledge of relevant legislation oAND/OR oFoundation Degree in Health and Social Care
