South West Yorkshire Partnership Teaching Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team on Ashdale Ward, Calderdale Royal Hospital. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive the care that they need and will be an integral role within the Calderdale and Kirklees acute pathway. Ashdale Ward is a well-established 24 bedded male gender general adult inpatient unit that is well supported by a specialty doctor and 3 resident doctors.

This vacancy is due to the current postholder leaving the Trust. The post is open to all eligible candidates as per the job description. This is a full-time post with 10 PAs and attracts 2 additional PAs that is reviewed every year at Job Planning. There is also on call supplement available.

The starting salary for this post is aligned with point 04 of the consultant pay scale (£123,672 -£150,569), in line with Trust policy for newly appointed consultants. Placement on the scale will be reviewed where applicable NHS consultant experience can be evidenced.

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Experience

  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
  • Able to provide clinical leadership to a multi professional team and liaise with a wide variety of agencies.

Desirable
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.

Eligibility
Essential
  • Fully registered with the GMC and have a licence to practise at the time of appointment or MUST have check GMC eligibility and commenced the application process at the time of NHS Jobs application.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for general adult psychiatry OR within six months of gaining CCT.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.

Desirable
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
  • Inpatient experience.
  • All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients.
