Job summary
Deputy Director of Midwifery - Band 8C

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Maternity and Gynaecology department at St Georges Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a role as Deputy Director of Midwifery (Band 8c).

We are looking for a dynamic compassionate and values driven midwifery leader, to join us in our improvement journey, who is passionate about quality, woman-centered care and our people. You will be collaborative and able to translate strategy into practice which drives forward our ambition to maintain our excellent patient satisfaction levels and strong history of sound clinical outcomes.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be the operational lead that drives and enables the vision and strategy for St George's maternity service and also that of the Southwest London LMNS. You will join the Director of Midwifery and our engaged MDT senior leadership team to provide line management, leadership support and guidance to continue the advancement of excellent maternity care.

The Deputy DoM will also ensure the delivery of key quality, performance and safety plans attributed to MIS annual submission, CQC action plan and aligned work with the MatNEOist team. They will work collaboratively to deliver the Trust's strategic direction, finance and business agenda.

Knowledge and Qualification
Essential
  • Registered Midwife
  • Leadership Qualification
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent

Desirable
  • Management Qualification or equivalent

Experience
Essential
  • Significant experience of operational management of a complex range of services within an acute setting
  • Significant experience in a midwifery leadership role at senior level (matron or equivalent) in a large and complex organisation
  • Experience of effectively leading and implementing transformational change and delivering projects in a complex organisation
  • Broad clinical experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Experience of teaching, training and development
