Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Senior Staff Nurse to join our Critical Care Unit, delivering outstanding care to critically ill and high-dependency patients.

As a senior member of the nursing team, you will provide expert patient care, work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, and support patients and their families through complex and challenging situations. You will utilise specialist knowledge in areas such as ventilation, sepsis management, renal replacement therapy and acute cardiac care, while meeting National Critical Care Competencies.

The role offers the opportunity to lead by example, mentor and develop junior staff, coordinate patient care, and contribute to service improvements that enhance the quality and safety of critical care services.

We are looking for a Registered Adult Nurse with significant post-registration critical care experience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to high dependency and critically ill patients for allocated shifts, liaising with the multidisciplinary team and offering support and advice to patients, relatives and colleagues.

The post-holder will deliver individualised patient care based on principles of best practice through developing a theoretical knowledge base for the care of patients with acute physiological needs.

This includes an in-depth knowledge of ventilation, sepsis, renal replacement therapy and a thorough understanding of acute cardiac interventions, meeting the National Critical Care Competencies. They will act as a role model to less experienced nursing staff and participate in the development of departmental initiatives to enhance Critical Care.
