Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Clinical Specialist Therapist to join our dynamic Critical Care Therapy Team at East Surrey Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for critical care, rehabilitation and service development. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical leadership within the Critical Care Unit, supporting patients with complex physical, cognitive and functional rehabilitation needs throughout their critical illness recovery journey.

You will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care whilst driving innovation, education and quality improvement within the service.

Main duties of the job

• Provide highly specialised assessment, treatment and management of critically ill patients within Critical Care.
• Lead the delivery and development of rehabilitation pathways across Critical Care and associated inpatient services.
• Act as a clinical expert resource for therapy staff, nursing colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Support early rehabilitation, complex discharge planning and transition of care for patients recovering from critical illness.
• Deliver education, training and competency development across the therapy workforce.
• Provide clinical supervision, mentorship and appraisal support to junior staff and students.
• Lead and participate in audit, research, service evaluation and quality improvement projects.
• Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing teams and allied health professionals to optimise patient outcomes.
• Contribute to operational and strategic planning for Critical Care therapy services.
• Participate in weekend, bank holiday and extended-hours services where required.
