This is a secondment opportunity to cover the Clinical Lead for the Hillside Secure Children's Home clinical team's maternity leave, and applicants are invited who would be expecting to be appointed at either 8c or are working towards this level and could be appointed under Annex 21. The post holder will be employed by the Health Board and be nominally based in CAMHS while working in Hillside. They will be supported by the Head of Baby and Child Psychology in the Health Board and by the other Professional Leads in CAMHS. They will join a small clinical team comprising a full time 8a psychologist, an Assistant Psychologist, senior Family Therapist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, an OT and some sessions of consultant psychiatrist time.

Main duties of the job
The CAMHS Hillside InReach Team is a specialist mental health provision embedded within Hillside Secure Children's Home (SCH), delivered by Swansea Bay University Health Board and commissioned by Hillside SCH. The service supports children and young people aged 10-18 presenting with complex mental health needs within a secure environment. Children frequently present with multiple adverse childhood experiences, developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental differences, and high levels of emotional and behavioural distress.

The team works in close partnership with Hillside SHC to provide care that is grounded in trauma and attachment informed principles. Central to the model is psychological formulation, which guides collaborative decision making, informs risk management, and strengthens relational safety. Reflective practice and supervision are integral, supporting staff's resilience and effective care delivery in high Intensity environments.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities

The role could involve a mixture of the following-

• Direct work with children including assessment, formulation and interventions
• MDT working through MDT meetings to discuss, review and plan therapeutic care
• Consultation and team formulation meetings
• Staff support including reflective practice and staff training
• Supervision and line management of members of the clinical team

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential

• Eligible for HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development as per BPS and HCPC

Essential Experience
Essential

• Appropriate experience of working as a qualified Practitioner Psychologist, including substantial supervised post- qualification expertise and experience within the field
• Ability to manage Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, and provide leadership within the defined Psychology Service

Desirable

• experience of teaching and training

• Ability to use highest level of interpersonal and communication skills, requiring empathy and reassurance, to convey and receive highly complex/sensitive information effectively in a highly emotive atmosphere, and ability to overcome psychological resistance to potentially threatening information, whilst maintaining high degree of professionalism at all times.
• Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary settings

Desirable

• Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
