Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to come and work within the Durham and Darlington Crisis Resolution and Intensive Home Treatment Team. Successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to work within either the Darlington site based at West Park Hospital or our Durham site based at Lanchester Road Hospital.

We have posts available within our service and we are looking for passionate, skilled qualified clinicians to join us.

The team takes a recovery orientated, formulation driven approach which values shared decision making.

Candidates must have 18 months post qualifying experience at the point of application including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

Main duties of the job
The team operates over 24 hours, 7 days a week, 12 hour shift pattern.

This is a band 6 post open to registered nurses, occupational therapists and social workers with current relevant registration with the NMC, HCPC or SWE.

You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and there is ample opportunity to develop and enhance your existing clinical skills. You will receive regular supervision and there are good training opportunities.

As a member of the team you will provide a service to those individuals who present with a mental health crisis who may require a period of crisis intervention as an alternative to admission. Applicants should be highly motivated, have the ability to act on own initiative and have sound assessment and written skills.

Job responsibilities
  • The post holders will be responsible for the clinical leadership of more junior members of the team, prioritising workload and utilising resources appropriately to ensure that service user needs are met.
  • The team is also responsible for gate keeping admissions to the acute admission wards.
  • Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Person Specification

Qualification
  • Current professional registration with an approved professional body.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • 18 months post qualifying experience at the point of application including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework)
  • Clinical Supervisor.
  • Recognised sign-off mentor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable
  • Leadership or management qualification
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area

Skills
  • Provide leadership and monitor, co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of a team.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead professional and/or care co-ordinator responsibilities

Experience
  • Significant experience working with people with mental ill health
  • Working collaboratively with service users, their families and carers
  • Provide clinical supervision to individuals or groups in a professional setting

Desirable
  • Leadership or management experience
