This is an exciting role for an experienced Research Nurse to join a joined-up collaboration of practices who wish to deliver research to their patients to enable better health outcomes, to help find new innovative treatments to help treat diseases with evidence-based research within the NIHR CRDC (Primary Care). Research is at the heart of our values & part of everyday practice in the NHS. It gives hope to patients & helps improve current treatment, medicines & develop new treatments which enables hope to happen. As part of the NIHR CRDC (Primary Care) there are 5 practices in the Poole locality and 1 practice in the Purbeck locality. We have had an exponential increase of clinical trials secured within our CRDC over the last 8 months. The pipeline of trials covers many disease areas, and this is a very exciting opportunity to help support our patients in their research journey.

Main duties of the job
The RRN would be expected to work across all sites to help set up research services & deliver commercial clinical research trials. The RRN will work with the Lead Roving Research Nurse to ensure that the highest professional standard of nursing care is delivered to research participants and, where relevant their families, in partnership with all clinical teams and in adherence to all NIHR CRDC (Primary Care) & TAP protocols/policies & guidelines. The role of the RRN needs to be flexible in line with the present atmosphere for change within health service delivery and the variance of research studies undertaken. It is essential that the RRN must work under their own sphere of competency & be able to work autonomously across all collaboration sites with recognising the need to reach out for help when required. It is the role of the RRN to adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) at all times enabling a safe research journey for each.

The Practice location combines easy access to the wonderful Dorset countryside, whilst being very close to the edge of Poole town and is in a highly desirable area to live and work in.

We are a CQC Outstanding-rated Practice with 40,000 patients and 17 current Partners working across 5 sites. We successfully combine efficiencies of scale with localised continuity and high quality care on individual surgery sites, whilst using a total triage appointment system to ensure acute patients are seen in a timely manner. We have the benefit of nearly 40 years of experience as a large multi-site Practice, providing a secure and stable environment to work in.

Job responsibilities
It is expected that the RRN will have the ability to work autonomously across the collaborative partners, demonstrating a high level of co-ordination and effective communication skills to ensure the smooth running of all trial-related work conducted within each practice.

It is expected the RRN will be a beacon of research expertise with guiding research naive sites to produce gold standard research whilst maintaining patient safety at all times. Please see JD/PS attached for further details.

Experience
Essential

• Substantial experience within research
• Experience of problem solving & the ability to work autonomously.
• Experience of developing & implementing policies, procedures & SOPs.
• Experience of recruiting, educating & monitoring participants in clinical trials.
• Venepuncture trained.
• Experience in the setup of clinical trials
• Experience of producing proformas & lab worksheets.
• Experience of using a centrifuge, -20 -80 freezers and experience of using Dry Ice.
• IATA trained

Qualifications
Essential

• NMC registered Nurse.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Professional knowledge acquired at degree level of relevant years of experience.
• Evidence of leadership and management development.
• GCP trained & certificate in date.
