Job summaryWe are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated ambitious individual to join our well integrated team to support us with our treatment and education services in Oral Medicine. We offer excellent clinical facilities in our dedicated department; which consists of 5 surgeries, a recovery area and pre-assessment rooms. The post is available from May 2026 and is a permanent position.
You will be an experienced Dental Surgeon with an enthusiasm to communicate your own knowledge and experience to students and patients. You will have been fully registered with the GDC for at least three years and have experience of managing patients with Oral medicine specific issues. You will be offered a structured induction and support with the opportunity for further educational development. You will assume responsibility for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of specific components of service and teaching in partnership with clinical and academic colleagues.
Main duties of the jobThe primary aim of the 0.8 WTE Specialty Doctor post is to provide support to the Oral Medicine Department, under the direction of the consultant lead. The post-holder will also contribute to the organisation and delivery of Oral medicine servicesThe nature of the post requires that candidates should have substantial experience in Oral medicine, as defined and practiced according to UK guidelines. Possession of a portfolio of experience in oral medicine and a cv to support this would be beneficial

Person SpecificationEducation, Qualifications and Specialist SkillsEssential- BDS or equivalent
- GDC registerable qualification.

- MFDS or equivalent
Desirable- Leadership and training experience.
- Certificate in teaching or medical education
Clinical ExperienceEssential- At least three years post BDS qualification experience in clinical dentistry
- Substantial clinical oral medicine experience
- Completed a Foundation Training programme and at least one year in a recognised NHS post as DCT or above.
Management and Administration ExperienceEssential- Able to communicate well with patients and colleagues.

Desirable- Proven management ability.
