Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to join the specialist nursing and midwifery team within the acute Gynaecology service at PAHT. The role supports delivery of care to service users experiencing acute Gynaecology symptoms and pregnant people with complications of early pregnancy as part of the Same Day Emergency Care pathway. The post holder will work closely with medical colleagues and the main ultrasound department as well as the wider Trust to ensure service users receive timely, compassionate and person centered care.

There is a requirement for the postholder to support the Consultant team in delivery of the Pregnancy Choices service on a rotational basis.

The post is offered part time for 22.5 hours a week.

Suitable for either a registered nurse or midwife

The post is not eligible for Sponsorship due to part-time hours

Main duties of the job

• Deliver hands on patient care to service users referred to the acute Gynaecology service
• Triage patients referred to the acute Gynaecology service via telephone and face to face and independently initiate an appropriate plan of care
• Liaise with medical colleagues to facilitate appropriate and timely review where required
• Liaise with relevant professionals across the Trust to facilitate appropriate and timely care
• Review, record and discuss results with patients and their ongoing treatement plan
• Provide support to the Pregnancy Choices Service
• Provide support to students and clinicians receiving training within the unit
• Ensure completion of documentation and discharge summaries for GPs
• Participate in quarterly team meetings
• Contribute to service improvement inititatives
• Ensure patients receive the information and advice required according to their diagnosis and to make an informed decision about their ongoing care
• Ensure care is at all times compassionate and sensitive and takes into account of individual patient needs and preferences
• Particpate in specialist clinics as required
• Ensure adherence to Trust policies and protocols

The post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload, prioritising tasks effectively and ensuring care is initiated and delivered in a timely manner. They need to work independently at times, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to high standards. The role may require occasional cross cover of the hysteroscopy and colposcopy outpatient service.
