An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive CT team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as a CT Department Assistant.

This is a pivotal role within a busy CT service, providing essential support to radiographers, radiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be central to coordinating inpatient activity, ensuring patients move efficiently through their imaging pathway and helping the department deliver a responsive service.

We're looking for an organised, enthusiastic and patient-focused individual with excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with a wide range of healthcare professionals. The role requires the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.

Alongside service coordination, you will contribute to high standards of patient care and support the wider CT team as required. Following appropriate training, there will be opportunities to develop clinical skills relevant to the role.

This is a part-time position working two 9.5-hour shifts per week (8:00am to 6:00pm), predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working to support service requirements.

Main duties of the job
As a CT Department Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a safe and efficient CT service by:

• Coordinating the inpatient CT workload and managing patient flow through the department.
• Communicating with wards, doctors, radiologists, nurses, porters and CT staff to ensure patients are ready for their examinations.
• Using telephone and IT systems to prioritise requests and respond to changing service demands.
• Supporting patients before, during and after CT examinations and procedures.
• Undertaking delegated clinical duties following training and competency assessment.
• Preparing clinical areas and equipment, maintaining accurate records and supporting departmental administration.
• Assisting the wider CT team to deliver a high-quality service and positive patient experience.
• Participating in weekend working as required by the service.

Qualifications
Essential

• Care Certificate
• Completion of a clinical skills competency- based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
• GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.

Experience
Essential

• Care experience working in a health or social care setting.

Knowledge
Essential

• Confidentiality understanding of Information Governance
• Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety
• Knowledge of clinical patient observations
• Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment e.g. blood glucose monitors, venepuncture, cannulation etc.

Desirable

• Knowledge and understanding of current healthcare issues
