European Medical Lead, Axial Spondyloarthritis

We are looking for a European Medical Lead axSpA who is collaborative, curious, and care-focused to join our European Immunology Medical team. The role can be based at our Global Headquarters in Belgium, or at our UCB offices in Slough, United Kingdom, or Monheim, Germany.

About the role

You will translate our global medical strategy into a focused European plan for axial spondyloarthritis. By connecting scientific insights with patient needs, you will enable consistent, high-quality medical activities across Europe. You will shape scientific communication, evidence generation, medical education, and external engagement to strengthen medical understanding and support informed treatment decisions. Working effectively across a complex matrix organisation, you will progress priorities independently and bring initiatives to successful completion, creating meaningful value for people living with rheumatological conditions.

Who you will work with

You will join a supportive European medical community and collaborate with country medical teams and global partners. You will work with colleagues across Evidence Generation, Clinical Development, Market Access, and Commercial teams. You will also build trusted scientific relationships with external experts, investigators, scientific societies, and research networks. Together, you will exchange insights, align priorities, strengthen capabilities, and enable high-quality medical activities that support better patient care across Europe.

What you will do

• You will translate global rheumatology strategy into focused European medical plans.
• You will enable consistent scientific activities across European country medical teams.
• You will create regional medical education and scientific communication programmes.
• You will coordinate congress activities, scientific exchange, and European medical initiatives.
• You will progress priorities independently across a complex, cross-functional matrix organisation.
• You will shape evidence generation addressing unmet needs and complete initiatives successfully.

Interested?

For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills:

• Relevant educational background in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline
• Extensive relevant Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Extensive knowledge of rheumatology, immunology, patient journeys, and evolving care standards.
• Experience working effectively across complex matrix organisations and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Ability to progress priorities independently and bring initiatives to successful completion.
• Scientific communication and stakeholder engagement experience across countries, functions, and external partnerships.
