Job summary
UCLH is offering an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Clinical Research Midwife or Nurse to join our established Women's Health Research team.

Main duties of the job
As a senior member of the team, you will take lead responsibility for the setup, management and coordination of commercial and non-commercial studies across obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatology. You will oversee the full lifecycle of studies, from feasibility and regulatory approvals through to recruitment, data collection and close out, ensuring protocols are delivered in accordance with GCP and local standards.

You will provide line management and mentorship to a team of clinical research delivery staff, with responsibility for supporting and developing research staff, promoting a positive research culture and ensuring research is embedded within clinical pathways across the Division.As the majority of our portfolio sits within obstetrics and gynaecology, we welcome applications from experienced research nurses with a background in Women's Health research, as well as research midwives. Applicants without experience in Women's Health are unlikely to meet the essential criteria for this post.

Person Specification
Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential
  • BSc in Midwifery or Nursing with current NMC registration.
  • Experience of conducting research within Women's Health
  • Experience of working clinically as a Midwife or Gynaecology Nurse
  • Relevant post-registration programme
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a band 6 Research Nurse or Research Midwife
  • Knowledge of research design, methods and delivery
  • Evidence of good clinical practice guidelines (GCP)
  • Knowledge of local and national research governance issues
  • Demonstrable up-to-date knowledge and clinical expertise across Women's health
  • Proven experience of dealing with a busy workload
  • Demonstrable IT skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Desirable
  • Completed master's degree or postgraduate study
  • Leadership or management development course

Experience
Essential
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate people management and leadership
  • Knowledge of key professional issues and NMC guidelines relating to professional practice
  • Previous experience of formal & informal teaching of patients & staff.
  • Skills in critical analysis and application of research to practice

Desirable
  • Basic lab skills
  • Experience of developing standards, guidelines and policies
  • Experience in audit and evaluation of practice / services
  • Published articles / poster presentations
