Job Summary
We are seeking experienced radiographers with NHS/UK experience to join our DR/plain film teams at Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals. You will work a 7-day rota, including nights, weekends, bank holidays and out-of-hours shifts.

At Solihull, Band 6 radiographers rotate through CT as part of the role, including out-of-hours. At Good Hope, service expansion includes a new Urgent Treatment Centre and an additional CT scanner within ED, supporting CT experience within the DR team.

You will deliver high-quality imaging to adults and children, ensuring excellent patient experience and best practice at all times. The role offers exposure to a wide range of work, including theatre, mobiles, fluoroscopy, ED, inpatients, outpatients and GP referrals.

Leadership is a key part of the role. You will be expected to run an area or lead a shift, supporting safe and effective service delivery. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential. You will also support development of others, including mentoring students, apprentices, assistant practitioners and junior staff, and contributing to appraisals.

We are committed to staff development and wellbeing, offering a structured DR CPD programme with regular internal teaching sessions from Advanced Practitioners, alongside wider internal and external opportunities. Ongoing support is available from line managers and the Practice & Education Team.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake radiographic examinations, seeking guidance where necessary, within Imaging and work as part of a team providing a caring and effective service.

They will assess their own workload and capability of patients to cooperate for radiographic examination. They will communicate effectively with colleagues and patients and have a patient centred approach to ensure that patients' needs are met.

They will take responsibility for their own practice, in correlation with protocols and maintain accurate records. During the course of work they must ensure they work in line with IRR2017 and IRMER2017.

They will act in accordance with the Radiographers' professional code of conduct at all times and maintain their professional knowledge through CPD, striving to improve standards of service and quality of work.

They will participate in the training and supervision of student radiographers and Assistant Practitioners.

They will use equipment safely and competently, ensuring that faults are reported in a timely manner. They will undertake daily checks and participate in the QA programme.

They will have high standards of cleanliness in the clinical environment and work in accordance with Trust infection control policies.

They will be aware of and comply with relevant Trust policies and regularly participate in mandatory training to update their knowledge.

The role is physically demanding and they may be exposed to body fluids, severely traumatised patients and verbal abuse.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • DCR/BSc Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of relevant UK/ NHS experience
  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree plus short specialist courses e.g. IV cannulation course, QA course, Assessor course, teaching/training/supervision course and/or experience to post-graduate diploma level or equivalent

Desirable
  • Demonstrable clinical post graduate experience
  • Evidence of post graduate development in the form of a post graduate course e.g. IV cannulation course, QA course, Assessor course, teaching/training/supervision course

Experience

  • Evidence of professional up to date knowledge
