Are you a Physiotherapist with experience and an interest in Pelvic Health? We are seeking a highly motivated Physiotherapist to join our Pelvic Health team as part of a secondment opportunity for 15 months. This is an exciting chance to work alongside experienced clinicians within a supportive teaching environment while contributing to the delivery and development of specialist pelvic health services.

As part of this role, the successful candidate will support the Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS) pilot, helping to enhance care pathways and improve access to specialist pelvic health services for women during pregnancy and the postnatal period. The post is outpatient based and may involve working across sites within both our primary and secondary care settings.

In primary care, referrals from GPs for a wide range of pelvic health conditions provide a diverse and rewarding caseload. Within secondary care, referrals vary greatly and include both male and female patients. You can expect to receive referrals from GPs, Midwives, Health Visitors, Urology, Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, Colorectal and Obstetric services, including both pregnant and postnatal patients.

Main duties of the job

• Using specialist and evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in Pelvic Health.
• To utilise individual and/or manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and or /complex needs, group work skills as appropriate in order to achieve agreed therapeutic goals.
• To have a specialist knowledge of a range of pelvic health conditions and to use this specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to plan and provide clinical interventions in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure development of junior staff and undergraduate Physiotherapy students through supervision, training and annual appraisal.
• Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area.
• Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Physiotherapy service.
• Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.

Job responsibilities

• Be professional, legally responsible & accountable for all aspects of own work and activities, to manage clinical risk within own clinical caseload.
• Carry a clinical caseload of highly complex patients, provide advanced therapeutic assessment & evaluation and provide detailed written treatment plans with patient centred goals working within Pelvic Health.
• Work as an autonomous practitioner and member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions and influencing decisions about patient care programs, taking on the role of care Co-Ordinator and/ or vocational lead where relevant.
• Carry out treatment, using a broad variety of modalities and clinical reasoning to allow selection of the most appropriate technique evaluating, modifying and recording all interventions and outcomes & adapting them to meet the needs of the patient.
• Use highly developed manual treatment skills requiring coordination, sensation & dexterity.
• Assist in the production and deliver an annual report specific to own clinical area & participate in the delivery of the Physiotherapy business plan.

Essential

• BSc Physiotherapy and evidence of post graduate training in relevant specialist area
• HCPC registered
• Clinical education training or willingness to complete within one year
• Post preceptorship

• Current (or recent) working experience of Pelvic Health.
• Experience of working with individuals with long term health conditions.
