An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse to join our Colposcopy Service as a Trainee Nurse Colposcopist.

This developmental role offers a structured training pathway, enabling the successful candidate to gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications required to practise as an independent Nurse Colposcopist. You will be supported to work towards BSCCP accreditation and, upon successful completion of training and competency requirements, there is an opportunity to progress to Band 7 within 12-18 months.

Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care to women undergoing colposcopy assessment and treatment. We are looking for a nurse with excellent communication skills, a commitment to women's health, and a passion for delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

• To provide day to day support to all levels of staff and patients within the Colposcopy/ Vulvoscopy clinics at UHCW and Rugby St Cross
• Availability for all scheduled training sessions to ensure training is achievable within the allocated time frame training typically takes between 12 to 18 months
• Nurse Colposcopy training is extremely intense, and the successful candidate will be expected to always work alongside the Trained Colposcopist to ensure the level of detail expected from the training is achieved. Once qualified the individual will be expected to diagnose and treat cervical and vulval cancer within the colposcopy setting within BSCCP guidelines
• To be proactive in all areas of colposcopy training e.g. manage own logbook and online training and preparation for formal BSCCP OSCE assessment in a timely manner.

Job responsibilities

• The post holder will be expected to pass examinations both written and practical throughout the training.
• To participate in 3 monthly training assessments specific to colposcopy/ vulvoscopy.
• Once qualified the post holder will be expected to help manage the department and train other members of the team and ensure practice remains research based
• Attend all mandatory training

• RGN Current NMC Registered
• Degree level nursing
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Study at level 6 (degree / diploma)

Desirable

• Teaching/mentorship experience/ qualifications

• Experience in Womens health or Gynaecology/sexual health related area at band 5 or above with Colposcopy experience

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the NHS cervical screening programme.
• Knowledge of professional code of conduct
