Job summaryWe are ideally looking for someone with an interest in Myeloid disorders, however applicants with other sub-specialty interests would also be considered.
The successful applicant will join our existing friendly team of haemato-oncology consultants (FTE 9) and participate in a 1:13 rota supported by a 2 tier SHO & SpR on call rota. The vacancy is for a full-time (10PA contract) consultant, however less than full time applicants will also be considered.
University Hospitals Dorset already employ a number of joint, clinical and laboratory based, academic/educational posts with Southampton and Bournemouth Universities and applicants wanting to pursue these opportunities are encouraged.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- WHO recognised Basic Medical Degree
- Full GMC with a licence to practise
Desirable- MD or PhD is not a requirement but would be looked upon favourably
Clinical ExperienceEssential- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT
- Evidence of experience and expertise in the diagnosis and management of haematological malignancies
- Evidence of the ability to offer expert clinical opinion in emergency and elective aspects of haematology taking full and independent responsibility for clinical decisions
- Evidence of up to date skills in the management of patients with acute haematological emergencies and level 3 care
- Confident in the diagnosis of haematological malignancies
- Confident in routine laboratory haematology including bone marrow reporting
- Evidence of an understanding of the structure of the NHS and how it works
Research and AuditEssential- Demonstrate knowledge of the role of audit
Desirable- Publications in refereed journals
Personal AttributesEssential- Enquiring, critical approach to work
