University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking Consultant in Restorative Dentistry to join our commissioned Head and Neck Specialist Service. This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the future of restorative dentistry services across Dorset. Working within a highly regarded multidisciplinary Head and Neck service, you will have the opportunity to influence service development, contribute to strategic planning and help define the future direction of restorative dentistry within a major acute NHS Trust. £20,000 Golden Hello, together with
relocation support of up to £13,000 for eligible candidates in accordance with Trust Policy, The Golden Hello is subject to the Trust's recruitment incentive arrangements.
Main duties of the jobShape the Future of the ServiceWe are looking for a consultant who is excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of restorative dentistry within Dorset. This role offers genuine scope to influence service development, strengthen clinical pathways and contribute to the ongoing evolution of a specialist Head and Neck service serving patients across the region. Whether your interests lie in head and neck rehabilitation, hypodontia, complex restorative treatment, education, research or service transformation, UHD offers an environment where you can make a lasting impact.
Flexible OpportunitiesWe are ideally seeking a full-time appointment of 10 PAs; however, applications from candidates seeking part-time working are welcomed. The minimum commitment is 4 PAs per week, with flexibility up to full time. Tuesday availability is required to support participation in the weekly Head and Neck MDT meeting.
Transforming ServicesUHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview. If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
About usAbout the ServiceRestorative Dentistry is a core component of UHD's commissioned Head and Neck Specialist Service and is embedded within the wider multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, ENT, Oncology, Radiology, Healthcare Science and Maxillofacial Prosthetics, with joint clinics supporting coordinated patient assessment and treatment planning. The service benefits from a close relationship with an on-site Maxillofacial Prosthetics Laboratory, offering experienced scientific and technical support, digital surgical planning and in-house 3D printing capability. A state-of-the-art laboratory refurbishment is planned, creating further opportunities for future service development and innovation.
