Consultant Ophthalmologist with interest in OculoplasticsJob summaryApplications are invited for the post of Consultant Ophthalmologist within the Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Cataract service. This is a substantive 8.0 PA, consultant post.
Main duties of the jobWe have a well-established oculoplastic service with high volume periocular skin cancer and lid malposition surgery. Endoscopic, endonasal and external lacrimal surgery is carried out both with and without assistance of ENT colleagues. There is a 6 weekly joint thyroid clinic with a consultant in endocrinology and orthoptic input and the majority of orbital cases are also managed locally. Research is encouraged and there have been regular prospective trials.

Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesThis position will also include regular cataract clinics and cataract theatre lists, which should become high volume when possible. Other responsibilities include general ophthalmology clinics and participation in MDT meetings when required
Person SpecificationEssential- Are on the GMC Specialist Register for Ophthalmology and have CCT/CCST or will receive it within six months of the date of interview
- The ability to supervise junior staff and carry out 'on the job' training
- Ability to undertake independent cataract surgery
Desirable- Training in General medicine/endocrinology, dermatology, oral and maxillofacial surgery or ENT surgery
- Other management experience including out patient priorities and waiting lists
