This is a great position for a pharmacist with experience and an interest in the cardiology speciality to deliver and develop cardiology pharmacy services across UHDB. Main duties of the jobThis role is a key part of our team of Advanced Pharmacists working within the Specialist Medicine Division at UHDB, and provides leadership and support for the pharmacy service to cardiology at Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton.
As the Advanced Pharmacist for Cardiology, you will work closely with our multi-disciplinary cardiology teams as well as colleagues in Pharmacy across UHDB to deliver and promote effective and high quality pharmacy services to patients in our hospitals and in virtual and place-based care settings.
As a highly motivated and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist, you will be supported to develop and implement your own ideas to ensure optimal pharmaceutical care for our patients. You will also have the opportunity to effectively contribute to the leadership, coordination, governance and development of the clinical pharmacy team across UHDB.
This post is based at Royal Derby Hospital. Occasional travel to other UHDB hospitals will be required to fulfil the Trust-wide elements of this role.

Person SpecificationCommunication and RelationshipsEssential- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written to communicate with a broad spectrum of people (from senior Division managers to members of the public). Able to articulate information and present clearly to healthcare staff, patients and members of the public.
- Ability to influence senior & junior healthcare staff (pharmacy, medical, nursing staff and managers) e.g. therapeutic decisions.
- Demonstrable leadership skills - role model for clinical pharmacists.
- Effective computer / IT knowledge and skills.
Desirable- Training in influencing and negotiating skills.
- Training in leadership skills
Knowledge, training and experienceEssential- Vocational Master's Degree in Pharmacy plus additional demonstrable pre-registration training, portfolio-based experience and final examination.
- PG Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
- Significant post-registration hospital practice experience including specialist clinical pharmacy practice in a relevant area.
- Wide-ranging clinical pharmacy experience and expert knowledge and ability to use research findings to develop services and patient care.
- Non-medical prescribing qualification within specialist area of practice relevant to cardiology.
- Statutory regulatory membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable- Membership of other organisations (e.g. RPSGB, Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists, etc)
- Higher degree e.g. Masters, DPharm or management.
Patient care and service developmentEssential- Provides safe, effective and timely services to individual patients
- Regular clinical pharmacy practice within specialist clinical area.
- Ability to identify and manage risk
- Plans and organises performance indicators and audit.
- Ability to effect and manage change
Desirable- Experience in service planning and project management in short-medium term.
- Prior experience managing change
