Job summaryUHMBT and University of Cumbria are delighted to be offering this opportunity for qualified nurse associates with experience in surgery to continue in our organisation and develop their career by joining this two year registered nurse degree course.
You will be fully supported through your journey. You will be paid in line with agenda for change trainee pay (Annex U 21 salary percentage - yr1 70% and yr2 75% of the top of band 5). If you already work for us as a band 4 , there may be opportunity for pay protection. You will be an employee of UHMBT receiving all the same benefits of your colleagues. The apprenticeship supplies you with a blend of "hands on" learning across our organisation to compliment the academic learning.
Please note the posts are available at Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow bases and placements will be cross bay with a particular focus on surgical nursing as able.
Please note that performance at a high level in your FdSc Nursing Associate is a prerequisite for this role.Therefore, applicant's interview responses, current academic attainment will be considered, in order for a decision to be made regarding the successful applicant/s. A satisfactory reference will be required from your Academic Tutor and internal line managers before an unconditional offer can be made.
Main duties of the jobAn exciting opportunity has arisen for registered nurse associates with experience and a passion for surgery to be able to top-up to full register nurse status through a 2 year apprenticeship programme with the trust.
The aim of this development post is for NAs with surgical experience to further develop their skills and knowledge, supported mainly through surgical based placements where able, to develop into fully registered RNs who can integrate seamlessly into our fast paced surgical teams in UHMBT.
About usWe operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Job responsibilitiesThis job description describes the roles that apprentices will be working towards during the training period. Supervision and support (direct and indirect) will be provided or available during all tasks, with progression being dependent on the completion of set objectives throughout a training period of up to 2 years.
