Job summaryWe would like to welcome an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to our team to provide training, support and development for staff in the dispensary at St.Richards hospital Pharmacy department.
This is an ideal opportunity to develop new skills and experience in an area of pharmacy practice which is increasingly becoming an important part of our commitment to our patients and staff.
This position will provide the ideal candidate with the opportunity to expand on a training plan for new starters, evolve teaching to bring the Trusts outstanding status forwards with a focus on enhancing quality, and an improvement in staff engagement and retention.
The applicant must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be confident dealing with a wide range of healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the jobTo provide a comprehensive pharmacy service to the patients of University Hospitals Sussex and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for providing the training and support to staff gaining qualifications/accreditations within the dispensary, to support the induction of new staff entering the department and to work in the dispensary and at ward level as per rota.

Job responsibilitiesThis role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.
- To line manage and supervise the work of the dispensary Senior Pharmacy assistants.
- To support the supervision of Pharmacy assistants, Apprentices, volunteers within the dispensary to ensure cohesive working relationships.
- Ensure mandatory training and appraisals are kept up to date for the team.
- To work as part of the dispensary & clinical pharmacy team, providing medicines optimisation service to wards and dispensary services.

Person SpecificationQualifications & ExperienceEssential- Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Nationally Accredited Checking Technician. Essential for Band 5
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy, post qualification. Essential for band 5
- Experience of a Patient's Own Drug scheme. Essential for band 5
- Experience of undertaking patient counselling including high-risk medications such as NOACs in preparation for discharge. Essential for Band 5.
- Accredited Medicines Reconciliation (formerly Medicines Management). Essential for Band 5
Desirable- NVQ assessor (A1 qualification)
- Practice supervisor accreditation.
- Educational supervisor accreditation.
- Experience of training other members of pharmacy or Multi-Disciplinary Team
- Experience of Recruitment and Selection of staff
