Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse to join our MINT Team on a 6-month secondment. The team provides community mental health support to adults across the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting service users with mental health difficulties and associated physical health needs.

The role involves managing a diverse caseload, including people with long-term and enduring mental health conditions, acute presentations and new referrals requiring assessment and intervention.

You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team comprising mental health nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, employment specialists and support workers. The team has strong links with local statutory and non-statutory services.

The post is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

We are seeking a registered mental health professional with:
  • Significant post-registration experience working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • At least six months' community experience working with adults.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and best practice.
  • Experience in mental health assessment, risk assessment, safety planning and medication administration

A car owner/driver is desirable but not essential. We are committed to finding the right candidate to provide high-quality, person-centred care.

Main duties of the job
  • To develop and maintain communication with individuals or groups of patients, carers and staff, about difficult or complex matters, overcoming any problems in communication in different situations.
  • To develop own knowledge and skills and contribute to the development of others.
  • To promote, monitor and maintain best practice in health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.
  • To appraise, interpret and apply suggestions, recommendations and directives to improve service.
  • To contribute to quality improvement.
  • To promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
  • To plan, develop and implement approaches to promote health and well-being and prevent adverse effects on health and well-being.
  • To assess complex health and well-being needs and develop, monitor and review care-plans to meet those needs.
  • To contribute to protecting people at risk.
  • To enable people to meet ongoing health and well-being needs.
  • To assist in providing interventions and/or treatments.
  • To contribute to the assessment of physiological and/or psychological functioning
  • To contribute to planning, delivery and monitoring interventions and/or treatments.
  • To monitor expenditure.
