Band 7 Team Lead, Mental Health Practitioner within the Ealing Early Intervention in Psychosis Service.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mental health professional; Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist looking to develop their leadership skills while working within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that is passionate about delivering recovery-focused care to people experiencing first episode psychosis.
This post is for 12 months.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will:
- Provide clinical and operational leadership within the EIS team.
- Support staff development, supervision, and service delivery.
- Manage a reduced caseload as care co-ordinator
- Work collaboratively with partners across mental health services and the wider system.
- Drive quality improvement and contribute to the continued development of the service.
- Make a meaningful difference to the lives of service users and their families.

Person SpecificationQualifications & TrainingEssential- Qualified RMN/OT/SW with current professional registration
- Evidence of relevant continuous professional development
Desirable- CBT qualification
- Family Interventions Qualification
ExperienceEssential- Experience of supervising junior staff within own and/or other disciplines.
- Working in partnership with other agencies
- Demonstrable substantive post qualifying experience in mental health, with evidence of relevant experience at Band 6 in a community mental health setting.
Desirable- Working with people with psychosis both adults and young people
- Working with Children and Adolescents - CAMHS
- Carry out Care co-ordination and planning within CPA in the community
- Lived experience of mental health issues
KnowledgeEssential- Specialist knowledge of mental health disorders as well as their relationship to physical disorders
- Use of psychosocial assessment and interventions.
- Risk assessment and management
- Understand the principles of recovery and their application to risk management, positive risk taking and strengths orientated approaches to care delivery.
- The Early Intervention in Psychosis model, ethos and practice
- Sufficient clinical knowledge to be able to make autonomous decisions, based on an analysis of complex presenting problems and judgement about available options
- Clinical and professional aspects of complex cases
Skills & AbilitiesEssential- Ability to manage own caseload and time effectively; revising and adjusting priorities as required according to the needs of individual patients and the service.
- Self-motivated, able to work autonomously and independently with confidence when required
- Work using own initiative, flexibility, and practising self-awareness
- Ability to frequently work under pressure and maintain intense concentration, particularly in unpredictable situations where there will be exposure to highly distressed and/or disturbed patients, often exhibiting challenging behaviours and the risk of physical violence
- Be aware of the limitations in own competencies and seek appropriate senior advice and leadership.
