Description

Job summary
Woodlands Surgery in Banbury is looking for an enthusiastic and caring Practice Nurse / Treatment Room Nurse to join our supportive team.

You will provide a range of treatment room and general practice nursing care, helping our patients stay well and manage their health. Your clinical duties will reflect your skills, qualifications and experience, with opportunities to develop further within the role.

Whether you already have general practice experience or are looking to bring relevant nursing skills into primary care, we would love to hear from you. We value kindness, good communication and a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to the team.

We recognise that you may not have every skill on appointment. We are willing to invest in appropriate training and development to help you build your confidence and competencies safely.

We are offering approximately 20 to 30 hours per week, with the possibility of full-time hours for the right candidate. Your working pattern must include Monday afternoon/evening until 8pm, Thursday morning and Friday all day. Additional sessions are available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

If you are passionate about patient care and keen to contribute to a friendly, collaborative nursing team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Main duties of the job
You will deliver safe, compassionate nursing care through booked appointments, working independently within your competence and alongside our nursing and wider practice team.

Depending on your training and competence, your work may include wound assessment and dressings, immunisations and vaccinations, cervical screening, injections, blood pressure checks, ECGs and blood tests. Depending on your experience and training, you may also support patients with long-term conditions such as asthma, diabetes and hypertension.

You will help patients understand their health and treatment, offer practical advice and recognise when further clinical assessment or support is needed.

Alongside patient care, you will maintain accurate clinical records, complete follow-up administration and contribute to infection prevention, vaccine safety and well-stocked treatment rooms.

We are looking for someone who will share workload fairly, communicate concerns promptly and contribute ideas to improve care and the day-to-day running of the nursing service.

The balance of duties will be agreed around your existing skills and the needs of the practice, with appropriate training and competency development supported.

About us
Woodlands Surgery is a friendly GP practice in Banbury. We are a close-knit team, with nurses, GPs, reception and administrative colleagues all working together to provide safe, compassionate care.

We value kindness, mutual respect and clear communication. Everyone is an equally valued member of the team, whatever their role, and everyone's contribution matters. General practice can be busy and varied, so we support one another, share responsibilities fairly and encourage colleagues to ask for help, raise concerns and contribute ideas.

We also enjoy the chance to catch up over a coffee. We offer a paid coffee break, plenty of free coffee and a great coffee machine to keep us going!

Benefits include access to the NHS Pension Scheme and support for appropriate training and professional development. You do not need to arrive with every general practice nursing skill: we are willing to invest in the right person, with an individual development plan where needed, and support you to develop safely within your professional scope of practice.

We warmly welcome informal visits and conversations before you apply. To arrange a visit, meet the team or discuss the role and working hours, please contact Deb Chronicle, Practice Manager, at deb.chronicle@nhs.net
