The post is based at The Working Well Centre, Worcester, but will also involve cross site working, travel to some outside NHS sites and companies for whom we provide an Occupational Health and wellbeing service.
This post will be attractive to candidates who are interested in developing a career in the expanding field of Occupational Health nursing. The field of Occupational Health offers diverse career choices, we will invest in and support your on-going professional development. Previous work delivering immunisation services within the Occupational Health / Public Health setting would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job- The post holder will, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, provide a full Occupational Health and Wellbeing nursing service, carrying out duties in line with agreed standard operating procedures and protocols, supporting the maintenance of Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) standards and acting in accordance with Trust values at all times.
- To support the head of department in delivering a high standard of OH service .
- To undertake pre-employment health assessment for service users.
- To assist in carrying out effective immunisation programmes and vaccination storage within UKHSA and OH policy guidelines.
- To provide a visible accessible and approachable presence within the clinical area providing and offering advice and support to all service users.
- To maintain confidentiality and accurately record written entries.
- To give appropriate advice following blood borne virus exposure incidents and ensure correct follow up action is completed.

Job descriptionJob Purpose:To support and contribute to the effective provision of a high quality Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service to the Trust and other public sector and private organisations.
To promote and maintain a systematic, holistic approach to occupational health and wellbeing provision, its implementation and evaluation.
To participate in identifying and maintaining a safe working environment and preventing ill health that may be associated with work.
The post holder would be able to gain experience and contribute by participating in the management of the service alongside more senior staff.
To work with private organisations and deliver high quality Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service within agreed service level specifications.
To contribute to an atmosphere conducive to learning, audit and the use of research based/best practice guidelines.
Key Duties:- To safely deliver allocated immunisation clinics at either the Working Well Centre Worcester or at the satellite clinics at Hereford, Redditch, Kidderminster, or at various private company workplaces in and out of county.
- To support colleagues in the co-ordination of the flu campaign.
- To support colleagues in the co-ordination of projects relating to health and well-being promotion activities.
- To attend meetings as an OH representative, where appropriate.
- To undertake preplacement screening.
- To be involved in work related Health Surveillance programmes, and other general medicals required by employers. This will include tests such as; BMI calculation, B/P, Urinalysis, Vision Screening, Spirometry, Audiometry, HAVS, skin assessments and advice.
- To attend training and administer vaccination programmes as per Written Instructions.
- To perform Venepuncture as per Trust policy and attend regular updating sessions.
- To provide advice and support to employees via telephone or face to face following needle-stick injury/violence/musculoskeletal injury / sickness absence.
- To be involved in delivering health education programmes in response to the public health agenda.
- To be fully aware of the workplace and its risks to health, visit areas as and when required and send appropriate reports to Managers.
- To liaise with other professional departments within the Trust and be involved in Outbreak follow up with Infection Control.
- To respond to general telephone queries from staff and managers, providing advice and support e.g. follow up of needle-stick injury, musculoskeletal incidents, and to instigate necessary referrals as required to counsellor, physiotherapist. To bring to the attention of the senior nurse should there be situations that require further support.
